Kia ora wāhine mā, it's your women's life coach bestie here! Let me share with you a gem about the importance of keeping your teke, tumeke. Look, if that triggered you, e hoa - we need to normalise this, because there are too many of us living with 'Tena koe' pads to keep our tarau's dry. Aue.

During hapūtanga and childbirth, our rock-hard pelvic floors, become flexible to allow pēpi to pass through and out of our tara (even if pēpi has come out of the sunroof).

As a mama, we get so absorbed by caring for our new pēpi and getting back to running the household, which can stall going for a walk, doing kegels or abdominal core re-strenghtening vs. sleep or food, is a real balance.

Let me share with you my experience of pelvic floor recovery with a magic tara that has pushed out five pēpi.

As a mama, the journey of motherhood is an awe-inspiring one, filled with boundless love, joy, and unforgettable moments. However, amidst the beauty of nurturing your little ones, there lies a crucial aspect of self-care that often gets overlooked - pelvic floor health. Today, I want to share my personal story and shed light on the significance of caring for your pelvic floor, along with reviews of three fantastic tools: Kegel balls, Kegel smart device by Intimina, and the Perifit system.

Understanding your Pelvic Floor

The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that support crucial organs like the bladder, uterus, and bowel. Throughout hapūtanga and childbirth, these muscles undergo significant strain, leading to common issues like incontinence, reduced sexual satisfaction, and even pelvic organ prolapse. It's essential for us to prioritize pelvic floor health to maintain overall well-being and quality of life.

My Pelvic Floor Journey

After giving birth to my second child, I noticed changes in my body that I hadn't experienced before. Simple tasks like laughing or sneezing sometimes led to embarrassing leaks, and I knew I had to take action. That's when I discovered the world of pelvic floor exercises and tools that could help strengthen and tone those vital muscles.

Kegel Balls: A Paradigm Shift in Pelvic Floor Fitness

Kegel balls, also known as Ben Wa balls, are small weighted devices designed to facilitate pelvic floor exercises. These discreet tools are inserted into your tara, where they provide resistance for the muscles to contract around. Not only do Kegel balls enhance the effectiveness of traditional Kegel exercises, but they also add an element of fun and challenge to your workouts. I found them to be a bit weird, but when balling on a budget, they supported my pelvic floor strengthening journey.

INTIMINA, Kegel Smart Devices: Elevating Pelvic Floor Workouts

For tech-savvy mamasita's looking to track their progress and receive personalized feedback, Kegel smart devices are a game-changer. This innovative gadget, monitors muscle contractions, and offers the device insights into your pelvic floor health. The Kegel smart device make pelvic floor workouts engaging and effective.

My kegel smart device is operated by AAA battery and I just turn it on, slide it in and do a workout in 3minutes, remove it, wash it and pop it back into it's hot pink bag, for next time.

I have found that by focusing on doing using this device, daily for the three weeks I don't have my ikura, I notice an improvement and that keeps me hooked to keep going with the daily exercises for 3 weeks per month for at least 3 months, then reducing it to a few times a week.

Perifit: Revolutionizing Pelvic Floor Training

Perifit takes pelvic floor training to the next level with its cutting-edge system that combines gamification with biofeedback technology. By connecting Perifit to a mobile app, you can engage in various games controlled by pelvic floor movements. This not only makes exercising fun but also ensures that you are performing the exercises correctly. With Perifit, strengthening your pelvic floor becomes an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

There is a recommended exercise time of 15minutes max and it already has it's battery for it's lifetime. The only nag is that it operates on bluetooth and this means that sometimes to retain connection to play the games, I have to have my legs slightly spread apart, and it's easy to go past the 15 minute time limit, leading to muscle fatigue.

Conclusion

In conclusion, as mama, we often prioritize the well-being of our tamariki above our own. However, it's vital to remember that self-care, especially concerning pelvic floor health, is crucial for our overall health and quality of life. By incorporating tools like Kegel balls, Kegel smart devices, and Perifit into our wellness routines, we can proactively strengthen our pelvic floor muscles and prevent potential issues in the future. Remember, a strong pelvic floor is the foundation for a healthy and vibrant life as a mamasita.

I noticed increased sexual satisfaction by 3 weeks of using the kegel smart daily and ceased using it during my ikura. I continue to do these exercises as much as possible to help who.... ME!! Now I get to enjoy jumping on the trampoline with my potiki and NO leaking.

Take the first step towards prioritizing your pelvic floor health today and embrace the journey to a stronger, healthier you!
